On diet but wondering if I could gain muscle weight from exercise program?
I am trying to loose about 10 pounds all together. I have cut my calorie intake so that i should loose 1 pound per week. In addition to that, i have been walking 30 minutes a day and doing 30 minutes of abdominal and butt pilates per day. I was wondering if even though my calculations come out as me loosing 1 pound a week, i will gain muscle weight because of the extra strength exercise I am doing? Does any one know? Thank you!

Hi,
If you are just starting on your workout schedules, and you haven't been very active previously, you should start seeing results pretty fast.
This is because the first weight you start to shed is water weight, and you'll be able to get rid of that pretty fast, however, the real weight loss happends after this stage as you will then begin on your fat reserves, and thats when it'll be more work for less results, but consistancy is the key along with eating properly.
Hope that helps
About two months you should see results.
It's real difficult to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time.
It's a real fine balance.
Usually people like bodybuilders or athletes will target one, then the other.
You will hear people talk about 'bulking' and 'cutting' phases.
Bulk gains muscle but also some fat. cutting tries to shed the newly gained fat while preserving as much as the muscle as possible.
Sounds like your program is a pretty good balance but more focused onthe cutting which is what you want. Basically you are trying to lose fat while preserving muscle. You may feel like you are getting stronger or gaining muscle, but this tend to be an illusion from the reduced fat.
Your on track! keep up the good work!
