Why do I gain weight when I start a new exercise and diet program?
Whenever I start to work out and try to eat right I end up gaining about 5lbs, and after about a month, the extra weight still doesn't go away. This ends up discouraging me to the point where I stop exercising as often and stop counting calories and when I go back to my old ways I go back down to the way I was when I started. If I knew the reason as to why this happens, I think I would be able to accept it and continue the exercise and diet routine.

When people stress, there is a hormone that increases belly fat. Dieting is stressful so this only increases hormone production. I can't tell you not to stress out, but maybe relax mentally and exercise. Try doing at least 30 minutes of cardio. Your body will accumulate water weight and make you feel bloated, but it will go away. When starting new diets, your body is adjusting. Don't get discouraged. Keep trying and make it into a habit, not something unpleasant and stressful.
Its probably because of muscle gain,
*Make sure u have a piece of clothing u want to fit into as a guide so u ca try it on each weigh in.
* Make sure u take a befor pic to keep u motivated when the scales don't go down
* Measure from top to bottom and check each wk on them.
*drink enough water
* eat enough healthy foods
* exercise enough
* make sure u know what u ideal weight is.
GOODLUCK
hey. i have a weight loss blog about my weight loss "journey". i lost 70lbs so far, i talk about how i do it and stuff. only 20 more lbs to go. yay! anyway, feel free to check it out http://ifinallydidit.wordpress.com/. you might be able to relate to some stuff i talk about. good luck.
You may actually just be putting on lean muscle mass, which is a good thing! The more lean muscle mass you have the higher your base metabolic rate is. Next time you try dieting, keep up with the exercise and diet but don’t go near the scales! Instead get a tape measure and measure yourself once a week, you can determine whether you have lost weight that way.
If you find that you are not losing inches you may want to consult your doctor to see what the issue is.
Good luck!
